Born in
Columbia, South Carolina in 1972, Ed attended the
University of South Carolina, graduating in 1999 with
a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. Ed began his
ministry career when he joined the staff of Southeast
Presbyterian Church (PCA) in January of 1995 as
Director of Youth Ministries. Following that, Ed
accepted a call as Youth Minister at Westminster
Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Roanoke, Virginia. Ed
began at Westminster in December of 1999, and served
there until August 2001 when he and Marcie moved to
St. Louis to begin studies for a Master of Divinity at
Covenant Theological Seminary.
While at Covenant, Ed taught Logic, Rhetoric, Bible, and Advanced Literature for Wildwood Christian School, as well as serving the school administratively. Ed also served The Covenant Presbyterian Church (PCA) of St. Louis as a pastoral intern from April 2002 through August 2004. Ed also served the consulting firm Douglass & Associates, working with pastors, churches, and pastors-in-training to develop tools, approaches, and philosophies of ministry that will deepen the health and vitality of the Church and Kingdom.
Ed accepted the call to serve Hickory Withe Presbyterian Church (PCA) as Pastor in August 2007. Following presbytery examination, Ed and his family moved to the Hickory Withe area in fall of 2007.
Ed is also a writer, having published articles on ministry and ministry transition, technology and computers, education, and even opera.
Ed married his wife Marcie (nee Ward) in 1998, and they have two delightful children, Jack and Molly. In his spare time, Ed prefers to spend time with his family as much as possible. He also enjoys reading, writing, computers and technology, hunting, fishing, woodworking, photography, music, and golf.
